What food do you serve at a cafe?
In the beginning, when we started, we served a lot of sandwiches and salads. Over time, we have slowly been evolving our menu to add in different things like oatmeal, smoothies, wraps, and more.

Our breakfast menu is doing well, so we are considering adding that to our general menu. I don’t think we will ever serve only salads and sandwiches. There are so many people out there who don’t have a lot of time to eat, so we want to be sure they have the option of getting something healthy but also quick!
What is your favorite healthy cafe menu item?
I love our wraps. We use whole wheat tortillas, and all of the veggies in them are super fresh. The wrap has been one of the most successful things on our menu regarding customer feedback. People seem to love them pretty much, and they are easy to eat on the go.
What are the benefits of Healthy Food Cafe?
People work so much these days and don’t have much time to prepare their meals. We want to be there for them in the morning when they are rushing out the door or when they come home from school or work looking for something healthy to eat!
It is hard enough finding healthy options at a place like Starbucks, but we want to offer healthy food that is also conveniently located. Our goal is to help people make better choices for their health and well-being, plus we want to work with other cafes in our area to support each other.
I think it’s awesome that more and more cafes are starting up these days! There are so many different options now that it is easy to find something healthy for you and your family. We all have different needs, so it’s important that the cafes out there feature options that will work best for most people.
What is your favorite item at a regular cafe?
I don’t eat out much, but I enjoy Tim Hortons’ Chai Latte! We also have a lot of people who come into The Healthy Cafe and order a regular latte or cappuccino.
I think that’s interesting and we don’t see it a lot at other cafes. The great thing about it is that many of our cafe customers also buy yogurt and granola from us, so they get a good balance of healthy food and coffee!
What is your favorite food at a regular cafe?
I have to be careful because I am always trying to lose weight, but I love sugar-free desserts. Sugar-free doesn’t necessarily mean low calorie, though – that’s something that people don’t realize, and it can be really bad for you if it has a lot of artificial sweeteners.
It’s always a good idea to ask what a cafe uses in their desserts – at The Healthy Cafe, we use Stevia in our sugar-free desserts, but it is really important that you research the ingredients and don’t just assume that ‘sugar-free’ means low calorie!!
