The History of Primos Mexican Food
Primos Mexican Food started with two families looking to share their love for Mexican food with Memphis. Our two families originally came from Mexico, and we wanted to bring our culture with us wherever we went.
Living in Memphis, we thought it would be best to open a restaurant so that people could enjoy traditional Mexican food without having to travel to Mexico.

One of the best things to find on our menu is enchiladas. We serve authentic Mexican food with slow-cooked mole sauce, black beans, and all your toppings.
We also offer chicken, steak, and shrimp enchiladas and our regular menu of burritos and tacos. Every time you order an enchilada from Primos Mexican Food, you will get a fresh tortilla loaded with all your favorite ingredients.

My favorite dish from Primos Mexican Food is the chimichanga. It’s to die for. I love how it’s the Mexican version of a hamburger, and I love that it’s big and deep-fried, just like a hamburger should be.
What’s been your best experience at Primos Mexican food?
My best experience at Primos Mexican Food was when my family was on vacation in Mexico. My dad made us aware that we would have authentic Mexican food before we even got to the restaurant.
When we got to the restaurant, one of the owners recognized me and hugged me. It meant so much to have my family experience authentic Mexican food in Mexico’s capital city.

I’ve worked at Primos Mexican Food since April 2015. I work as an Assistant Manager and see all that goes on behind the scenes. I like to see what goes into making our food and making it taste so good.
What is your favorite menu item at Primos Mexican food?
My favorite menu item from Primos Mexican Food is any chicken enchilada. I love that it includes chicken, cheese, and green sauce. I always get a side of rice with my order, and I can’t get enough of that.
