What is a Tornado Mexican Food?

Tornado comes from the Spanish word “tornado,” a whirlwind or a violent storm. This beautifully captures what this restaurant is about: authentic traditional Mexican food served quickly, efficiently, and in large quantities, in a whirlwind of flavors.

The atmosphere of the place is pleasant and fun, with the red and white colors on the walls giving off a homey, welcoming feel. They have small intimate tables for couples, big communal tables for larger groups, and everything in between.

Who makes tornadoes’ food?

Tornado Mexican Food is owned by two siblings, Jaime and Julieta Turo. They’ve been in the small business for about a year and 3 weeks after opening the doors of their first restaurant.

They had to open up another. Although at first, Tornado Mexican Food was operating out of borrowed kitchen equipment and under the intense pressure of running two restaurants at once, it has become something much more powerful as time goes on.

What kinds of food do they serve?

They serve traditional Mexican favorites, including quesadillas, tacos, tortas, and more. They also have their fusion dishes, such as their taco salad made with fresh lettuce, shredded cheese, beef fajita meat, avocado slices, and diced tomatoes, which are then topped with cheese sauce.

They have a variety of drinks as well to complement their meals, including beer, sangria, and margaritas.

What are tornado ingredients?

Some of the ingredients in tornados are refried beans, cheese, meat, and other spices. They are all cooked in a vertical tunnel that has a conveyor belt. The ingredients are then wrapped in a tortilla and cooked in oil. They give the food an authentic Mexican taste.

Tornado is a very different Mexican restaurant, with new kinds of food being introduced to customers daily. People already love the place, with an average rating of 5 stars on Facebook and good reviews on Yelp.

How do you make a homemade tornado?

It’s simple to make, and if you follow the steps below, you will be able to create your own homemade Tornado.

Ingredients for 6 tornadoes:

  • 20 tortillas
  • 24 ounces of refried beans
  • 12 ounces of shredded cheese
  • tortilla chips or fries (optional)

Prepare:

Step 1:

Heat a skillet on medium heat and layout 3-4 tortillas. Start layering the ingredients on top of each other: spoon some refried beans in the middle of the tortillas.

Step 2:

Next, add a few spoonfuls of shredded cheese on top of the refried beans. After that, add a few more tortillas on top, and then layer a few more spoonfuls of shredded cheese. Finally, fill the last few tortillas with a mixture of spices and meat (optional). Add some more tortillas on top.

Step 3:

Once you finish all the layers, cover up each tornado plate with foil.

Step 4:

Place the skillet on the stove and heat until the cheese melts. Give each Tornado a few more minutes to melt together.

Step 5:

Cut it into triangular slices, and serve with tortilla chips. Or serve it with french fries or any other sides you prefer.

It’s easy to create your Tornado!

How do you make a tornado for breakfast?

I decided to use french fries as a substitute for tortillas. I thought it might be too much food, but I was wrong. The whole family loved it.

Cooking Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Cut potatoes into strips, about 1/4-inch thick, 3 inches long, and 2 inches wide. Place them into a bowl of water mixed with sugar to keep them from turning brown.
  3. Preheat a skillet to medium heat. Spray with nonstick spray and add the potatoes in batches. Cook until browned on all sides, frequently turning so they don’t burn (do not place in a water bowl). Drain on paper towels.

How do you microwave a tornado?

Unlike making a tornado in the oven, the microwave is much easier but requires a shorter cooking time. Instead of potatoes, we used tortillas instead.

Prepare:

12-16 tortilla shells (Taco Bell shells work great for this)

1. On medium heat, place the tortilla shells in the microwave for about 1 minute to warm them up.

2. Add beans and cheese on top of each tortilla shell. You can also add meat or other ingredients if you want as well.

3. Wrap them up in paper towels and then cover them with saran wrap.

4. Microwave for another 2 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

5. Cut them into triangle pieces and serve warm.

What is a tornado for kids?

I have a 7-year-old son, so I made a miniature tornado for him. This time, I used just one tortilla instead of three. You can add the ingredients to the center of the tortilla and then wrap it up. This is the closest thing to a burrito he can eat.

If you think this is too much food, divide it into mini-tornadoes instead! You can also use quesadillas, tacos, or just plain tortilla chips to make mini-tornadoes for little kids. The point is to have fun and enjoy making them at home.

Tornados food where to buy?

Tornados are a fun and delicious food, and they can be found in many Mexican restaurants. Since they are so popular, you should not have trouble finding a restaurant serving them.

But if you want to make your tornados at home for yourself or a crowd of people, it is not hard to find the food ingredients you need from local grocery stores or online stores.

Final Word

There are many interesting things to learn about tornados. It is a popular Mexican restaurant that has unique flavors. Tornados are not only for kids and adults.

You can make homemade versions of this food for yourself or go out and get your favorite Tornado food at a Mexican restaurant. Whatever you do, let’s all have fun while eating the tornado-style Mexican food!
